iMuranesi is a unique venture born from the imagination of a descendant of one of the most distinguished Venetian families, associated with glassmaking, Giampaolo Barbiní.
iMuranesi products are unique thanks to the synergy of many equally important elements. These include the beauty of finish, the use of innovative manufacturing techniques, sophisticated and bold design, and a strong connection between top designers and glassmakers.
iMuranesi is a popular international brand that combines modernity with the classic values of Murano glassmaking.
However, this designer model is rooted in a tradition that dates back several centuries, when the authorities of the Venetian Republic decided to concentrate all artisans in one place. To this day, the name of this place is associated worldwide, and the glass originating from there continues to delight crowds.
Barbini is one of the well-known medieval families. These glassmakers left their mark on Venice as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, by order of the Council of Ten (Consiglio dei Dieci), the Barbini family was inscribed in the Golden Book of the Murano Society of Excellence, a list of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
The family was then granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be seen at the Murano Glass Museum.
