Description

Decorated base against the backdrop of Berrettino from 1700, which features a grey-blue enamel covered with biscuit during firing—biscuit being a fired clay used to shape objects intended for enameling, typical of a specific class of majolica from around 1525. It was primarily used by Faenza factories, but also by Casteldurante; unknown majolica from Urbino is also widely used in Venice, where it characterizes a decorative style, with small summaries called foglie, in two shades of blue with white tin reflections applied to the body.

The central part of the facade depicts a ruined tower against a mountainous landscape; the outermost, circular part is decorated with brown paint in an oil suspension, creating a particularly pleasing effect. It is in good condition, aside from a small chip on the edge. Central Italy, 1700.

Exceptional antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for decorating our interiors. Today, there is an increasing number of enthusiasts of high-quality vintage products that have a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the design of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few key ones stand out. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, marked by the prevailing Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis-Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. By the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Beautiful Empire-style furniture dates from the late 18th to early 19th century, originating from Napoleon’s reign. It features significant influences from Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture reflects the Louis XVI style, which also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. Baroque, derived from the Portuguese word barocco—meaning an irregularly developed pearl—was characterized by highly ornate furniture designed to exude splendor and play a significant role in luxury. Selectively used materials emphasized the grandeur of these pieces.

Today, we can observe how much the Baroque style influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style is also significant, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries and leaving a major mark on furniture craftsmanship. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and massive, using brown stains, cornices, sturdy bases, and reliefs. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly speaking, chest furniture. Mythology and ancient times also inspired these designs, with supports and legs often taking animal forms.

Lion paws, eagle heads—these are common features in Renaissance style furniture. Currently, many global brands reproduce such furniture, inspired by Italian and French creators. This reflects admiration and respect for the history of the most beautiful Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture production was perceived differently in each country, giving each style a unique character. This is especially important when searching for a luxurious antique that suits your interior.

The most important aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is crucial for buyers, as the market is flooded with counterfeits. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos.
