Description

Gauguin began his artistic life as an Impressionist in Paris, but seeking a broader perspective on the world, he experimented with decorative arts and bright colours to create something that some call symbolism. He painted briefly with Van Gogh, but was strongly drawn to the “otherness” of the South Pacific, which he often traveled to, eventually settling far from his roots and early influences to create a unique and intensely personal body of work. This beautiful new book delights with scenes of Tahiti, illuminated by sunlit bodies, shapes, and styles of the South Pacific, each of which secured him a special place in art history.

Popular titles and a very wide range of authors are the hallmark of Flame Tree Publishing.
