Description
From the end of World War II to the mid-1960s, something exciting was happening in American architecture. Emerging talents focused on innovative projects that combined modern design with inexpensive materials. This trend was particularly highlighted in the famous Case Study House Program, which is a model of modern living, supported by the leading American magazine “Arts & Architecture”.
The TASCHEN brand is a leading and most recognizable publisher of books on true art, architecture, design, fashion, photography, pop culture, style, and travel. Working closely with renowned creative partners, the company has published thousands of titles in dozens of languages. From the beautiful quintessence of the Basic Art series to the collectible SUMO editions. TASCHEN's mission remains a constant commitment to diversity and innovation. Regardless of the subject and price—from $10 to $10,000—the brand strives to treat every subject with the same respect, as well as to produce, design, and package each of its books luxuriously and uniquely.
Founded by Benedikt Taschen in 1980 as a small comic bookstore in Cologne, today it sells its books worldwide. In addition to an international distribution network, the private publishing house operates an e-commerce site and 14 branded stores worldwide, from Beverly Hills, New York, and Miami to London, Brussels, Paris, and Milan. Meanwhile, the TASCHEN Gallery in Los Angeles hosts rotating exhibitions coordinated with the publishing program. The company is headquartered in Cologne and Los Angeles, with regional offices in Berlin, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Milan, New York, and Paris.
TASCHEN is jointly managed by Benedikt Taschen and his eldest daughter Marlene Taschen.
