Decorative elements coated with palladium give the Souverän 405 Black-Silver a distinctive, unique shine. The black parts are made from high-quality, self-polishing noble black resin. The palladium-coated rings are so delicately integrated between the materials that the transitions between materials are almost seamless. The series is offered as a fountain pen with a differential piston mechanism, a ballpoint pen, a rollerball pen, and a mechanical pencil with a push mechanism.
The origins of Pelikan date back to chemist Carl Hornemann, who on April 28, 1838, presented his clients with an offer for oil paints, watercolors, and the so-called Pelikan archive – which laid the foundation for the company's production line, from which the well-known global brand developed. The German manufacturer specializes in producing exclusive writing instruments.
Decades of experience, specially trained staff, and the highest attention to detail at every stage of the manufacturing process ensure that each product is solidly made and unique. Depending on the model, the nibs are made from 14 or 18-karat gold. They are also sometimes rhodium-plated to achieve a silver shine. The decoration on the nib is typical for each model.
