Description

The movement of postmodernism is incredibly difficult to define; this elusive design style was a reaction to the utopian ideals of modernism. Over two decades, this artistic movement established ideas about art and design, bringing a new self-awareness of the style itself. Playing with vibrant colors and bold shapes, Malabar designers created a fun, artistic, and extravagant dining chair.

The Mak Suh Muh dining chair, handcrafted exclusively from walnut wood by our experienced artisans, is upholstered with various colors and patterns of cotton velvet. Abandoning all rules of mixing patterns and shapes, this postmodern dining chair offers a new way to explore interior design, where authenticity is key. Artfully designed, the Mak Suh Muh will express the style of any decor it accompanies. The Mak Suh Muh dining chair was designed by Malabar and is part of the Future Classics collection.

Malabar's manufactory was established in 2012, alongside the launch of a wide range of decorative Fado guitars and the elegant World Architects furniture collection. It has designed and released a total of 5 exceptional furniture and accessory series.

Malabar has made its mark at major international fairs such as 100% Design London, Maison & Objet, Decorex, Stockholm Furniture Fair, and Seoul International. These are among the top venues for showcasing.

Malabar's furniture design originates from Porto, in northern Portugal, a region with a long and strong tradition of handcrafted products.

The identity of this prestigious brand is rooted in the architectural and artistic heritage of the past five centuries. International experience and a pursuit of perfection are the details that define such original companies. Emotions, handcrafted craftsmanship, and space-inspired design create an explosive mix of luxurious furniture. Various techniques of working with natural wood produce incredible effects, as seen in Malabar’s exceptional collections.

An important aspect of their design is the combination of neutral and black colors. Juicy and vivid hues dominate, diverging significantly from classic and stereotypical furniture. Besides wood, the manufacturer uses brass, gold and silver leaf, as well as other high-quality raw materials. The Portuguese soul is very colorful and fascinating, clearly reflected in the bold furniture designs.

The company's name derives from Malabar black pepper. Along with other spices, it changed the course of trade history with the discovery of the Cape. The value of original spices prompted Portuguese merchants to chart a daring sea route. This remains true today, as Malabar continues to define highly individual design boundaries and evoke strong emotions with its projects. They are very liberated, seductive, bold, and extremely luxurious.
