Manufactory Coltelleri Saladini produces kitchen knives with forged blades. Each blade features an engraved manufacturer logo — a confirmation of authenticity and a quality guarantee. The marking is done during the craft process, before the blade is hardened.

Saladini is very selective in choosing steel — mainly using high-quality hardened stainless steel with high or 100% carbon content.

For the production of Saladini blades, two main processes are used: quenching and forging.

Quenching is used to create knife blades, cigar cutters, and certain lines of table knives. These blades are cut from steel sheets, whose thickness depends on the intended use of the knife.

The most complex manufacturing process involves forging blades with a hammer and anvil, which are used for kitchen, table, and collector’s knives. Hand forging allows for creating the proper shapes of blades, handles, and bolsters, which are then fitted into the handle.

After tempering, both types of blades undergo hardening and annealing in heat treatment, which, depending on the steel composition, determines the correct hardness level for an optimal cutting edge.
