The Barbini family is one of the respected medieval dynasties. These glassmakers left their mark on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic era, by order of the Consiglio dei Dieci council, the Barbini family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society's Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, at that time, the family was granted a coat of arms – featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
