A unique silver ballpoint pen plated with ruthenium – Waldmann

The timeless history of the Waldmann company began in 1918. In Pforzheim, the traditional German jewelry metropolis in the Black Forest, as a manufacturing plant for high-class push-action and twist-action pencils made of gold and silver. Subsequently, Waldmann designed and produced fountain pens and ballpoint pens made from metals such as brass, silver, or 18-carat gold! Waldmann writing instruments with special rotary mechanisms for 2 and 4 color pen systems obtained worldwide patents. For the first time, this master craftsman was honored at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, namely with a silver medal for the four-color action pencil. Subsequent patents were successful, including for the legendary "Two-in-One" in 1972. This push-action pen contained an ink cartridge in the barrel, while the other end of the pen could be used as a fountain pen.

Everything that leaves the company's own production has been crafted by skilled artisans with many years of experience using traditional craftsmanship techniques, who perform the manual work with great care and love. Enthusiasm for innovation, modern techniques, and filigree craftsmanship is a long-standing tradition. Just like in the founding year, Waldmann still produces 100% of its writing accessories in Germany today, which is why products from the Waldmann workshop rightfully bear the signature "Made in Germany."

Waldmann also gained fame as a specialist in unusual finishes for writing accessories. Special attention is given to the old craft of engraving. Only a few master engravers still master the "Viennese pattern," and only Waldmann is capable of producing unique writing instruments with this unique and elegant engraving method, performed individually. Tradition, quality, and craftsmanship since 1918 - Waldmann has combined them all in its writing instruments.

925 silver is therefore a precious metal alloy consisting of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other materials. It is a harder and more stable alloy, making it ideal for the production of jewelry and coins, but also for the production of high-quality writing instruments, such as Waldmann. This play on words and meaning led in 2010 to a collaboration between Süddeutsche Zeitung, one of the most well-known German daily newspapers, and the luxury writing instrument manufacturer Waldmann. The coveted "Edelfeder" series, which since 2011 has been not only an essential part of the Waldmann collection but was also created and designed in honor of outstanding journalistic achievements in "Edelfeder."
