George Ltd – Owners – Hatton Wall – London. The object is in good condition and dates from the early 20th century.

The antique pharmacy scale by F. E. Becker & Co. is a piece of significant historical value, of interest to measurement instrument enthusiasts and collectors. Such scales were widely used in pharmacies in the past to accurately weigh ingredients and prepare medicines. Its presence in a collection adds a touch of charm and authenticity.

Exceptional antique furniture and accessories can be an excellent idea for interior decoration. Today, there is a growing number of enthusiasts for high-quality vintage products that possess a distinct character and soul. It’s a nod to history, craftsmanship, and the creation of classic and timeless furniture. There are many different styles in antique furniture, each with its own distinctive features.

Many styles characterize antique furniture, but a few are particularly prominent. Eclectic furniture refers to the 19th century, notably the Biedermeier style. Its early variations include neo-Gothic, Gothic, Rococo, Louis Philippe style, and finally the English Victorian style. Toward the end of the century, these styles evolved into pseudo-classicism, Renaissance, and Baroque styles.

Beautiful Empire-style furniture dates from the period between the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It originated during Napoleon’s reign, emphasizing grandeur and referencing Roman and Greek ornamentation.

Neoclassical furniture, such as Louis XVI style, also strongly references ancient architecture. Noteworthy are antique products in Rococo and Louis XV styles. The Baroque style, derived from the Portuguese word 'barocco'—meaning irregularly developed pearl—features highly ornate furniture designed to dazzle with splendor and serve a luxurious role. Selectively used materials were employed to emphasize the opulence of these pieces.

Today, we can observe how the Baroque style has greatly influenced modern classical furniture, which is often designed with a strong resemblance to the historical period. The Renaissance style, flourishing in the 15th and 16th centuries, also left a significant mark on furniture design. Renaissance furniture was quite heavy and robust, using brown stains, moldings, strong bases, and relief decorations. These products were quite distinctive but also opened new possibilities, such as the construction of credenzas and broadly defined chest furniture. Mythology and ancient themes were also popular, with supports and legs often taking animal forms—lion paws, eagle heads being common motifs in Renaissance style. Currently, many global brands recreate such furniture, drawing inspiration from Italian and French artisans, as a tribute to the beauty of Renaissance antiques. It’s important to remember that furniture styles were perceived differently across countries, each with its own character. This is especially crucial when selecting a luxurious antique for your interior.

The key aspect of stylish antique furniture is originality. Ultimately, this is what matters most to buyers, as the market is flooded with fakes. Luxury Products provides documentation confirming the product’s authenticity and compliance with the description and photos. We also have experts in art appraisal, history, and specialists from around the world at your disposal.
