The Barbin family is a medieval glassmaking family that has left its mark on the island of Murano since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by order of the Council of Ten, the Barbin family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Notable Murano Society, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms — two bearded wise men facing each other with a star between them on a blue background — which can still be admired at the Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
