A charming office desk set - Prof

The Sophie desk set consists of five elements: a tray, a pen holder, a miscellaneous item holder, a visitor book, and a single flower vase.

Each piece is unique and handcrafted entirely from glazed terracotta with a mono and two-tone matte finish. Slight differences in shape, color, and size should be regarded as a value and a guarantee of craftsmanship.

Prof Office was founded in 1995, drawing on experience in the furniture industry, a family-run industrial background that designs elegant office furniture systems deeply rooted in the northeastern Italian furniture district. Over these twenty years, the company's economic growth and development path have enabled it to look at the international market, contributing to the dissemination of Italian design and the highest quality worldwide. By consulting architects and designers, Prof has strengthened its identity and expanded its product range.
Starting with stylish execution collections, it then developed operational systems, reception solutions, conference rooms, and partition walls. Today, this allows for offering holistic and customized furnishing solutions for every workspace.

HEADQUARTERS

The headquarters of Prof, along with its plant and offices, is located in Falzè di Piave, in the Treviso province, 70 kilometers north of Venice, in one of Europe's most important furniture industrial districts. It covers a total area of approximately 8,700 sqm, of which 3,600 sqm are covered. The facility, specializing in {manufacturing|production} of office furniture, is equipped for operations in the wood department, assembly, packaging, warehousing, and logistics of finished products. The main building houses executive, commercial, technical, and administrative offices, conference rooms for client meetings, and an exhibition showroom of over 400 sqm, showcasing all collections of prestigious office furniture. In 2017, an expansion added over 1,800 sqm, including 640 sqm for production, 330 sqm for new offices, and 830 sqm for a new showroom.

PRODUCTION

The manufactory produces exclusively at the Falzè di Piave plant in Treviso province and always bases its identity on maximum respect for people, the land, and materials. Strong local roots and innate “know-how,” which has evolved also thanks to new technologies, have allowed Prof to confirm and solidify its success, continuing to combine tradition and innovation while adapting to new socio-economic changes. Prof's production organization is focused on “just in time,” enabling reliability, inventory reduction, and increased quality and customer service. The entire Prof network operates mainly within Italy, in the local manufacturing district where most raw material and semi-finished supplier companies are located. All products are fully designed and made in Italy to ensure a standard of constant excellence.

DESIGN

At Prof’s factory, every piece of furniture results from an understanding of the changing dynamics of workplaces. Research has always been a strategic element of the company's development policy, expressed through an internal Design Department working closely with external designers and continuously updated with technological and legislative evolutions. Prof models are entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, fully compliant with European safety and hygiene standards. For this reason, Prof collections stand out for their high design, ergonomics, and functionality.

DESIGN CONSULTING
Prof offers comprehensive design and consulting services, including analysis of client requirements, layout studies with targeted and personalized furnishing proposals, technical drawings, and rendering.

CUSTOMIZATION

Prof can propose and perform personalized services on standard production models: from manufacturing oversized components, through sourcing new materials and finishes, to creating samples and prototypes. Thanks to its versatile production capabilities, Professor has developed specialized knowledge in non-standard consumable materials, handling projects from small and medium-sized to excellent personalized creations.

AFTER-SALES SERVICE

Thanks to the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2008 certification system for managing non-compliant products and claims, Professor maintains constant control over issues encountered during assembly and use. The company provides technical support and after-sales services along with full information, modifications, and repairs.

BESPOKE PRODUCTS

Professor’s high production flexibility allows, in addition to series production, the realization of custom-defined projects tailored to specific client needs. The Design Department can support clients or designers in developing and producing unique products, both functional and aesthetic, with completely individual finishes.
Careful advice at every stage of implementation: a targeted design, with meticulous material selection and attention to detail, culminating in the construction step-by-step, up to the final installation.
The entire production is fully adapted to individual needs.

ENVIRONMENT

In response to increasing international market competitiveness through improving customer satisfaction and loyalty, and streamlining internal production processes, Professor obtained ISO 9001: 2008 certification in 2012. Adopting a quality management system is a strategic decision for Prof, enabling increasingly concrete business goals. In a world constantly seeking quality and increasingly sensitive to ecological issues, Prof emphasizes maximum experience in designing and manufacturing office furniture with respect for the environment. Starting from carefully selected raw materials, through the entire processing and packaging process, to disposal, everything aims to protect health and save energy.

As a result, Prof uses certified E1 panels in accordance with European regulations on formaldehyde emissions for both raw materials and laminates.
Each panel is then marked by the Eco Panel Consortium, ensuring that semi-finished products are produced through wood reuse in the manufacturing process, which does not involve tree felling.

Obtaining the ISO 14001: 2004 certificate in 2012 confirms Prof’s concrete commitment to establishing its own environmental management system, regulating the impact of production activities on the environment, and striving for continuous improvement. In 2015, during the same period as the company’s twenty-year anniversary, Prof introduced a new green logo to confirm and identify its commitment to sustainable environmental development as an integral part of its operations and growth process. In 2017, the company reaffirmed its “eco-friendly” strategy, emphasizing its values of “sustainability” and “responsibility,” and switched to a new electricity provider (Dolomiti Energia) sourcing 100% from renewable sources.

ECO PACKAGING

Prof continues its commitment to a production system capable of minimizing environmental impact. In 2016, Prof invested in a modern packaging machinery park using biodegradable cardboard, enabling customized packaging training. Optimization tailored to specific products allows significant reductions in packaging costs, storage, and waste disposal. To improve waste management, several separate collection points for post-production waste were established within the company. All waste is stored in special containers and subsequently recycled.

CERTIFICATIONS

Demonstrating a commitment to quality, Prof obtained the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2015 certification and adheres to international standards in design, development, production, and customer service.
