The Barbiní family is one of the medieval glassmaking dynasties that established their presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, the Barbiní clan was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society of Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, as one of the most distinguished glassmakers in Venice.
Furthermore, the Barbiní family coat of arms was granted at that time — depicting two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background — which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
