The Barbin family is one of the medieval glassmaking dynasties, which established their presence on the island of Murano as early as the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, the Barbin family was recorded in the Golden Book of Murano Society of Notables by decree of the Council of Ten, as one of the most renowned glassmakers in Venice.
Furthermore, at that time, the Barbin family coat of arms was granted – depicting two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star between them on a blue background – which can still be admired at the Murano Glass Museum.
