The Barbini family is one of the outstanding medieval clans. Their presence on the Venetian island has been recorded since the second half of the 16th century.
In 1658, during the Venetian Republic, by decree of the Consiglio dei Dieci, the Barbini family was inscribed in the Golden Book of Murano Society’s Notables, known as the register of the most distinguished glassmakers.
Additionally, the family was granted a coat of arms — featuring two bearded wise men looking at each other with a star above their heads on a blue background — which can still be seen at the Glass Museum on the island of Murano.
