How should ground coffee be brewed?
It is recommended to use an espresso machine for brewing. However, boiling it or pouring boiling water over it is not advised. Doing so can increase the levels of irritating compounds, cholesterol, and essential oils, which may cause unpleasant stomach discomforts.
An alternative to ground coffee is beans. Its main advantages are a rich aroma and a distinctive taste. To enjoy it, you need a special grinder. Coffee beans should be ground just before brewing. Burr grinders are commonly used for this purpose, as they crush the beans instead of burning them. For the highest quality coffee of this type, it is worth choosing a pressure grinder. Many also prefer instant coffee. What sets it apart is the speed and ease of preparation. Simply pour boiling water over it and optionally add your favorite extras like sugar or milk. Its brewing time is short, and there’s no need to worry about grounds. Advantages of instant coffee include easy storage and that it retains its natural flavor qualities for a long time. Unfortunately, it also has drawbacks. These include the use of lower-quality coffee beans in production and the potential presence of harmful substances such as nickel or ochratoxin A.
How to make the perfect ground coffee?
Ground coffee can be prepared in several ways. The first method involves placing 2 teaspoons of the chosen product into a mug or cup, pouring about 250 milliliters of hot, freshly boiled water from a height of about 25 centimeters, waiting approximately 3 to 5 minutes, and optionally adding milk or sugar.
To avoid grounds, it’s best to use a filter when preparing ground coffee. Place the filter in the mug, add 2 teaspoons of finely ground coffee, and pour a thin stream of freshly boiled water from a height of about 25 centimeters. After about 3-5 minutes, remove the filter and add your favorite extras.
You can also prepare ground coffee using a moka pot. For this, fill the device with finely ground coffee, pour in freshly boiled water, wait about 3-5 minutes, and then lower the filter into place.
There’s also nothing stopping you from using a drip coffee maker to brew ground coffee. Place a filter inside, add medium-ground coffee, fill the water reservoir, and turn on the machine. The consistent brewing temperature and water flow ensure that this type of coffee maker can guarantee the same amount of brewed coffee every time. It is excellent for preparing caffeine drinks for multiple people.
