Today we are pleased to present to you a unique antique desk.
This elegant piece of furniture features flowing, wavy lines – finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed as a focal point in a room – crafted in the typical spirit of *Barocchetto*. The front is distinguished by a characteristic cutout for the legs (shaped like a kidney or arch), providing comfort for the person seated at the desk. The arrangement of five drawers references the form of a triumphal arch: four smaller side drawers (two on each side) and a large central drawer, equipped with an original lock and a finely crafted metal plaque. Above the central drawer is a pull-out auxiliary surface – a thin, foldable writing surface, typical of high-end office furniture.
The entire surface of the furniture is adorned with a magnificent walnut veneer; the sides are laid with a diagonal pattern, while the fronts of the drawers and doors are framed with inlaid walnut veneer veins. The edges above the legs are slightly beveled. The furniture rests on four characteristic, slender, and expressive *cabriole* legs, finished with elegant feet in the form of a volute or so-called “buta,” giving the entire structure visual stability and dynamism.
The piece is in fair condition and offered in a “used” state (without restoration); the carpentry construction is solid, although the mechanism for extending drawers and pull-out elements requires repair or adjustment. In the past, the furniture underwent modifications: the side locks of the drawers were removed, the corresponding keyholes were sealed, and knobs were installed. Restoration work is recommended.
