Portrait of a Terrier dog - 1932

Portrait of a Terrier dog - 1932

Today, for enthusiasts of classical art, we present a historic painting from 1932 depicting a Terrier.

Artwork titled Guilt, dated 1932, created using oil technique on birch plywood, depicting an airedale terrier in a guilty stance.

The sweet appearance of this dog with a red collar, waiting for a reprimand, immediately convinces us; in reality, it is sitting next to a doll shown in the foreground wearing a red dress, which it has probably just broken the head of.

At the bottom right, the Italian title of this more animalistic work with intense realism, Guilt, written in italics above the artist's signature P. Polenghi and the date 1932.

Piero Polenghi was an Italian painter from Milan, born in 1895 and died in 1941.

The painting is in excellent condition - framed in a modern cream-gold frame. It comes from a private collection in Milan. On the back of the panel, there is a gallery stamp from Milan and the owner's inscription.
