Today, we would like to present to you an oak box with bottles for alcohol 1800, of English Captain Edward John Ward, a soldier of the Royal Academy, with a retractable brass handle engraved with the inscription Capt. E.J. Ward R.A. and printed initials - L.S.D.
The box contains two dark glass bottles, flasks with a handle embossed with a silver seal and a cork. The neck decoration of the bottle is engraved with the digits L.S.D. The same initials as the handle. The signatures on the cap confirm the silver assay 925/000 and indicate the Sheffield assay office from 1860/61 by a goldsmith with the initials H.A., unidentified.

The brass lock is the work of the well-known Chubb from London. The box is in good condition, except for the internal green lining, which shows signs of use consistent with its age.
Inside the box are documents attesting to the career and death of the soldier. Edward John Ward 1836-1879.
