We are pleased to present to you an original pair of luxurious antique candelabras from the early 19th century.
Pair of Empire candlesticks made of gilded bronze, of French origin, from the early 19th century, ormolu flambeaux with putti, with four flames, in good condition.
On a square, stepped base stands a round pedestal decorated with palms. The quality of craftsmanship with chisel is so high that the cast leaf joints support the globe, on which a winged angel rests on its toes, a putto with perfect anatomy, with curls of hair and feathered wings masterfully carved.

In the joined hand of the putto, he holds the main torch of the candelabra with a total of four flames, decorated with leaf motifs, palmettes, and floral elements.

The entire casting is well gilded with mercury amalgam, and the whole rests on the contrast between opaque parts and shiny, polished agate. In the beige and colacera panels, 4 mm diameter holes have been drilled for electrical wiring. Two minor defects consistent with the age: the candlestick with the raised right hand shows old repairs corresponding to a garland, and it lacks the tip of a leaf in the central light, as well as the index finger of the angel's left hand.

The candelabra have been cleaned (as seen in the photo); for this operation, they were completely disassembled, each consisting of 38 handcrafted elements, and under the globe, the bases are stamped with MB numbers, probably referring to the initials of the master craftsman.
They come from a private collection of a villa by Lake Como.
