We are pleased to present to you a unique painting depicting a scene with Minerva.
Minerva's Victim, an ancient mythological scene painting - created with oil technique on canvas, depicting a composition animated by numerous figures. The painting shows a man standing behind an altar, sheltering from a blazing fire. To the left of the altar, Minerva, the goddess of war, wrapped in a large white drapery, dressed in classical white and flowing garments, sits on a chair surrounded by rich ceramics, amidst a crowd of people.

Near the furnace where the sacrifice just took place, a servant is handing out scrolls from a chest to some seated figures. In front of them, a woman holds two children and a boy in her arms. In the background, a colonnade with statues completes the composition.
This ancient Italian painting from the 17th century, originating from the Lombard school, with impressive dimensions and significant scenographic influence, is in a reasonable state of preservation consistent with its age. It is on a backing, with a horizontal seam in the upper part of the canvas and old restorations with thick, fabric cracking. It comes from a private collection in Lombardy and has an original gilded frame with extensive gilding losses.
