Stoupe made of polychrome wood - 18th century

Today we are pleased to present to you a unique antique holy water font from the 18th century.

18th-century polychrome wooden stoup from Marche, composed of a shaped panel with an edge carved with golden scrolls, profiled with a pebbled green-colored filet.

In the center, there is a tray made of three ribbed leaves lacquered in natural and gold colors, above which is an oval opening with an aquarelle engraving depicting the Holy Family.

The panel's lacquered surface features shades of green and red with a yellow patina resulting from the use of sandarac. The back of the stoup is covered with green paper with cutouts featuring hand-painted watercolor flowers. The stoup originates from Marche, dating from the mid-18th century, and is in good condition; minimal restoration has been carried out to address documented damages in the carvings.
