We are pleased to present to you an original 18th-century Italian ornithological illustration.
Published as part of the work “Ornitologia methodica strava atque iconibus atque iconibus aeneis ad vivum illuminatis ornata”, this work is a testament not only to the richness of bird fauna but also to the scientific and artistic expertise of its time.

The sheet size of 450 x 350 mm, with wide margins, allows for full appreciation of the work. The numbering of the plates with Roman numerals (DLXXIV) indicates its position within the publication, suggesting that the work consisted of a significant number of plates dedicated to various bird species. The dedication to the financier, Count Pietro Verri Ciamberlano, emphasizes the importance of financial support in scientific and artistic projects of the time and reflects the network of social and cultural connections that supported such initiatives. Attention to detail in the illustrations and print quality demonstrate Manetti’s rigorous and meticulous approach to depicting bird species.
This plate serves not only as a scientific document for ornithological classification but also as a work of art, representing an era when art and science were inseparably linked.
