Porcelain figurine - love scene

Porcelain figurine - love scene

We are pleased to present to you an original figurine made of white porcelain. It dates back to the mid-20th century.

Giuseppe Cappé Scena Amorosa Group from around 1960, made of white and gold porcelain, depicting a pair of lovers in a rural setting. The composition is placed on an oval base with mixed lines, featuring an engraved Cappé signature along the edge, referencing Giuseppe Cappé's ceramics. Born in Cittiglio (VA) in 1921 and passing away in Lomagna (LC) in May 2008, he dedicated his life to creating porcelain works appreciated worldwide, especially in the United States. Some of his works are currently part of private collections and museums.

Cappé was an artist inspired by the themes of the great Italian folk baroque tradition and the Alexandrian style, with typical and well-known examples such as Serpotta stuccoes (Palermo), Capodimonte productions, and Neapolitan cribs.

Cappé combines baroque roots with popular realistic and neoclassical traditions, integrating his original sense of humor and inventiveness. He trained as a sculptor employed by others, and in 1958, he began creating his own sculptures.

Throughout his life, he created approximately 250 models, and sculpture was the most important purpose of his life, to the point that he was deeply passionate about it.
