Large Empire chandelier with 18 lights from the late 18th century, made of crystal and gilded brass

We are pleased to present to you an exceptional chandelier from the late 18th century!

A large, 18-arm empire-style chandelier from the late 18th century, made of crystal and gilded brass, in perfect condition. A rare and antique Italian chandelier for the living room, with a lightweight balloon-shaped structure for heated air, crafted from iron and gilded brass, featuring an elegant, vertical design spanning multiple levels, making it an exceptionally ethereal and lightweight architectural element, while also being valuable for the light effects created by faceted crystal garlands and pendants. The dominant tone is always gold, provided by six embossed brass crowns, which contrast with the dazzling intensity of the crystals.

It consists of six round crowns decorated with molded, transparent crystals, connected by chains and crystal pendants. The crowns are adorned with seed and bud motifs in beaded profiles, and the largest crown is decorated with embossings in the form of scrolls, acanthus leaves, and floral elements. Eighteen two-flame candelabra, made of wrought and gilded iron, extend from these central crowns, arranged on two levels, with heights of 12 + 6 meters, also decorated with botanical motifs.

The chandelier is topped with a highly original end element: a turquoise, milky-gray glass disc enclosed within the lower crown, visible only from below and covered by the last crystal sphere surrounded by prismatic pendants.

Multi-level candles, originally the main source of lighting for the hall, provided even light dispersion.

This chandelier comes from a large hall of a villa in Emilia. It dates from the late 18th century and is in excellent condition, ready to hang after restoration and rewiring in our atelier.
