J. J. Borghetto The Alchemist and the Snake Hunter - 1945

We are pleased to present to you an original pair of paintings from 1945.

Medium-format French origin images; the first depicts an alchemist, not a pharmacist or chemist sitting in his laboratory among test tubes and photographs.

Elegantly dressed man sitting at a table, engaged in writing. In the bottom right corner of the scroll, there is an inscription: Homo versutus scientiam celat. Pro. XII V7. Signed J.J. Borghetto, June 1945.

The second image, of the same dimensions, depicts three men in Nordic costumes, whose goal is to catch snakes using forked sticks and spring-loaded pliers to place them in a shoulder bag.

In the bottom left corner of the scroll, there is an inscription: Coleban mutos serpentis Sap. II. V16. In the opposite corner, Borghetto's signature.
