Today we would like to present to you the exceptionally original Beast sculpture.
This Indochinese Fantastic Beast, carved from a single piece of exotic wood, with traces of polychromy and gilding, depicts a figure resembling a lion with sharp teeth and fierce claws.
The long tail on the back serves as a handle for the lid of the storage box. This highly decorative item probably originates from Indonesia, and judging by the oxidation of the pigments, its creation dates back to the 19th century.
