Today we would like to introduce to you an original German globe that also functions as a lamp.
JRO Globus spherical lamp, circa 1950, with glass globe and internal lighting system, of German origin; it is a political globe with a diameter of 33 centimeters, made by JRO Globus from Monaco. It is in German and dates from the 1950s.
It depicts the political division of the world, borders of individual countries, and nation names. It is an important cartographic tool providing information about global political geography and used for educational and research purposes.
The map is printed on twelve segments overlaid on the glass globe, which rotates around its central axis and is supported by a wooden base and chrome metal elements.
Despite minimal signs of use, this antique globe is an excellent piece of furniture, also interesting from a historical, geographical, collector’s, and antique perspective.
The inscription in the circular field reads: JRO Globus JRO-Verlag Munchen 12. Fully functional.
