We are pleased to present to you a unique carved wooden mirror.
Golden mirror - 1700, carved in wood, with scrolls and curved legs, featuring an antique mercury mirror. These small Italian mirrors were originally called Cartagloria, with hand-carved and gilded wooden frames, artistic objects created for liturgical purposes, containing praise for the sung mass.
Preserved in excellent condition, apart from two small cracks on the wooden frame structure and minor wear of the gilding, which was done with gouache on a preparation of Armenian red bole.
Altar mirror comes from a private collection in Lombardy. It can be hung on the wall or placed on furniture, such as a chest of drawers, resting on its legs.
