Today we would like to present to you a wooden monk figurine.
Burma carved wooden monk, early 20th century, oriental sculpture made from a single piece of wood, restored with wax and covered with a dark patina. The monk figure is depicted in the lotus position (Padmasana) with hands folded. This position, with hands joined in a gesture of greeting, prayer, or spiritual humility, is quite common in oriental contexts.
It comes from a private collection in Lombardy and is in good condition.
