We are pleased to present to you an exceptionally original Baroque frame.
Baroque Cartoccio frame in a rectangular shape, created by deep volutes connected by two central keys and foliage with engraved ribs in the corners. Gilded for gouache with an Armenian red bole preparation. Inside, there is a centered textured fabric embroidered with small colorful flowers. Well-preserved, despite minimal defects consistent with 17th-century dating, it comes from Milanese collections.
This valuable 17th-century Baroque frame from the Lombards is carved and decorated with leaves; the depth of the expressive scrolls is accentuated by a dark silver oxide finish on the decorative elements, depicting leaf motifs with turned, crumpled ends.
