Antique paintings with cherubs

We are pleased to present to you 2 images depicting cherubs.

Pair of oil paintings on a walnut panel. In the first painting, in front of the curtain, the foreground features portraits of five cherubs frightened by being caught by one of them holding a lizard in their hand; in the second, a group of six partially covered by red drapes gathers around an exchange of coins between two of them.

Both feature a wooded landscape in the background. The two ancient tablets with cherubs are framed in a modern gilded frame, in good condition, with a few small woodworm holes (disinfected) and a significant varnish finish. They were produced in Italy in the mid-19th century.
