Today we are pleased to present to you an exceptional wooden sculpture depicting an angel.
Carved and silver-plated wooden sculpture from the 17th century depicting a standing angel, resting on a lacquered base in shades of gray, with wings, soft drapery, and thick golden curls.
The special effect is achieved by the silver part of the body, which has been completely polished, giving the statue a pleasing contrast with the gold decorating the wings, the transverse veil, and the hair.
The wings are attached to the body with large nails. The condition is satisfactory, consistent with age; it has minimal flaws on the silver part. It originates from Lombardy and was probably part of a complex group of liturgical sculptures.
It comes from a private collection in Milan.
