We are pleased to present to you the exceptional painting of the Mater Dolorosa from 1700.
Image of Our Lady of Sorrows on canvas from 1700 in good condition, framed in a gilded frame from the early 20th century. The painting is glazed and depicts the Virgin of the Seven Sorrows with folded hands, turned to the left, with a halo of light above her head, covered by a cloak.
The Cult of Mater Dolorosa was very important and widely spread throughout Italy and beyond, and is probably the most represented in domestic devotion. The frame has minor damage in the lower left corner.
