Pair of majolica plates decorated with clove motifs, by Manufaktura Ferniani, Faenza, polychrome painted in shades of blue, brown, yellow, red, orange, and green.
The interior of the dish is decorated with the so-called clove motif, featuring a flower protruding on a long, twisted stem; a narrow band with lattice segments and floral branches surrounds the central motif and marks the transition to the edge, which is decorated with two alternating floral compositions. Two rounded edges define the border of these two 18th-century majolica plates with a diameter of 20 cm. Faenza, third quarter of the 18th century, in good condition.
