A pair of gnomes - 19th century

Today we would like to present to you a pair of decorative gnome figurines from the mid-19th century.

These are likely artifacts of Germanic origin, dating from the second half of the 19th century. On a rocky pedestal carved from bone stand two gnomes, one passing by and the other sitting with lush beards and a distinctive head covering.

One with a smiling expression holds a cup with a lid in one hand and a bunch of keys in the other. The other, in slippers, raises his right hand, in which he was probably holding something. Good condition despite old glue on the sitting figure's base, which is still supported by a metal pin.

Exact dimensions are: standing one cm. 8 4.5x3.6; sitting one cm. 6.5 5x4.

Period: 19th century

Height: 8cm

Width: 4.5cm

Depth: 3.6cm
